We get asked this question a lot! The short answer is, "YES". Of course there are many factors that go into this, but most decks under 150sf can be completed in one day. Decks over that square footage usually take 2-3 days to complete.
Absolutely! We actually hold three licenses in the state of Michigan. Chad and Patti are both licensed residential builders and the company is also licensed. Our MI license number is 262000184. No matter who you decide to build a deck for you, always check to make sure they are licensed (verify a license HERE). We carry both liability insurance and workers comp insurance. Ask us to see proof of these things, we are happy to share!
Yes! We take care of the entire permitting process for you so you don't have to worry about anything. We will never ask you to pull the permit yourself (this is a red flag if a contractor is asking you to do this). You can rest assured that all of our decks exceed the code requirements and will be inspected for safety and code compliance.
NO! This is one of the things we take a lot of pride in. We answer the phone, we do all the quotes and meetings, and we are the ones who will show up to actually build the deck too! In this day and age this is becoming less common. We find a lot of companies will send out a sales guy to sell you a deck and then send some random subcontractor, who you've never met, to do the work. Not us. We are there from start to finish.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. We also offer financing.
We also do sheds and fencing (wood and chainlink). There are many things we "can" do, but we feel focusing on what we do best, and what we enjoy the most, is important...and that is decks.
We used treated southern yellow pine for all of our deck framing and deck boards. Cedar decking is also available and is a beautiful option.
We do offer several railing options, including some maintenance free options. Check out our gallery page to see some examples.
You will never have to deal with nail pops again, we screw all of our deck boards down! In fact, we use hidden edge screws whenever possible so you really won't even see them unless you look really close. This helps to keep the deck boards smoother and helps to prevent splinters. Walking barefoot on your wood deck...yes please!
We do not do any staining. After your deck is built we do educate you on what type of stain to use and when to use it. You can do it yourself, or we can recommend companies who can help you with that.
We are a local company, located in Newaygo County, MI. We get asked a lot if we are a franchise and we are not. We are a small company that was started by Chad VanHuizen and his passion and skills for deck building. You can read more about us in the "About" section.
